24 Hour Challenge Complete! Over £1,300 Rasied for Young Minds Charity by Newcastle Scouts Radio!
Watch as the 24 hour timer ticks over to finish the challenge! Between these 6 presenters, they broadcast LIVE for a full 24 Hours on Newcastle Scouts Radio, all in aid of Young Minds – the UK’s leading charity for young peoples mental health.
Starting from 12 noon yesterday, Newcastle Scouts Radio broadcast live for a full 24 hours non-stop, in a massive effort to raise money for Young Minds Charity. Our 6 budding DJs and Presenters: Findlay, Struan, Patrick, Jake, Alex, and Alastair kept the airwaves moving all through the day and night to complete the challenge set!
Taking turns to present segments, shows, interviews, and games, and even getting up in the middle of the night to present their shows, each and every one of these inspiring young people put in a massive effort to rase an amazing sum for a deserving charity.
We’re leaving the Just Giving Page up until Easter for donations which can be found here: Newcastle Scouts Fundraiser.
Why Young Minds?
Last year the pandemic hit hard.
In June of 2020, 1 in 6 under 16 year olds identified as having a mental health problem.
Young Minds is the UK’s Leading charity fighting for children and young people’s mental health – we wanted to bring the noise and raise awareness, and funds, for charities that helped the most over lockdown.
The support that Young Minds provides, aligns with the values and the ethos of Scouting – not just in Newcastle but Nationwide. It’s for this reason that Newcastle Scouts Radio has chosen to support Young Minds for it’s latest Challenge – 24 hours of requests, chat, and radio broadcast, all in an effort to get people talking.
